The 'Royal Children' pub on Castle Gate. Up until recently, this had a whalebone hanging outside it. This was due to the pubs secondary trade being the sale of whale oil for lamps.

The old 'British Waterways' building, which has been recently renovated, on Canal Street. A small bridge now leads you to the new Court buildings and the Meadows area.

Looking past the former Canal Museum (now the wonderful 'Canalhouse' pub, from under the Carrington St Bridge
And looking from the bridge on the previous picture, past Waterfront Bar, Via Fossa and the Canalhouse towards Carrington St.

At the bottom of Hockley lies the wonderful converted bank called the 'Bunkers Hill Inn' with the new Ice Arena to its left.
The former 'Crystal Palace' pub on Clumber Street is now an amusement arcade, with McDonalds to its left.



Looking up Market Street towards the Theatre Royal and Parliament St, the green-windowed brick building on the left is where the 'Classic' cinema used to be. The blue building on the corner is O'Neills' Irish Bar. The Newton Building of Nottingham Trent University looms in the background.



Here is Middle Pavement and the rear entrance to Broadmarsh Centre, formerly Drury Hill. The centre of the picture is the old site of 'Severns', click here to see a 1966 version of this view



Thurland Street looking onto Pelham Street, with the Thurland Hall pub on the left, and the new 'Hogshead' pub in the centre. The recently vacated NatWest bank is on the left



Kings Walk now offers this view of the new 'Cornerhouse' Development, from Parliament St, although the old metal sign remains.



This view of Long Row was formerly Pearson's stores, but now bows to the modern god of Next, Boots and Habitat. Yates Wine Lodge is the building behind the trees on the left.



The 'Ocean' nightclub on Collin St was formerly the Sherwood Rooms in the 1960s, later becoming MGM in the 1980s.

Left - Marks and Spencers on Albert Street Birds Cake and Bread Shop - Cheapside
Sign for new development on the A C Gill site on St Mary's Gate, opposite the Adams Building, Lace Market. This is the site left by the demolition of the A C Gill factory, on Warser Gate/Fletcher Gate, which is earmarked for luxury flats. Fletcher Gate car park is the huge brown building.

Amusements - Carlton Street, Hockley. The old Lord Nelson pub is the pink building in the centre. Plaque from Raleigh factory, Triumph Road, Lenton, due to move in summer 2002.
Gateway of Adams factory, now restored. St Marys Gate, Lace Market. Former Boots shop, Pelham Street, in its digital glory!!!
Nags Head, Mansfield Road, or is it possibly the Ex-Bass 'Ags Head'?? This empty rank of houses remains between Moreland and Grainger Street, off Meadow Lane.

The Sir Charles Napier pub, Sherwood Street, thankfully still as good as ever!! View looking up Parliament St from the Milton St corner, with the old Elite cinema and Co-op visible centre-left.
